87.1% Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme 2019 Laptop Review: The second generation of Lenovo's premier multimedia laptop has gotten worse | Notebookcheck
New CPUs, a faster GPU and a greater choice of displays, that is the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 in a nutshell. Lenovo has only slightly modified the second-generation model, with the chassis remaining unchanged for this year's model. We have put the device through its paces, specifically the one with a matte 4K panel, which has a massive impact on battery life. Update: X1 Extreme is equipped with the GTX 1650 Max-Q after all

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 review – an industrial, yet simple mobile workstation
Source: Laptop Media English Archive.org version
So, if you are interested in mobile workstations, check out the Dell XPS 15, as well as ASUS ZenBook 15 UX534. While the latter is not exactly a workstation, with its ULV processor, we think that it provides a great performance/price ratio. Plus it features the ScreenPad 2.0. Nevertheless, we think that in terms of versatility, the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 is a very very decent notebook.

Overall, the ThinkPad X1 Extreme is a premium product in every sense of the word. This machine boasts excellent build quality, great performance, and a beautiful high-resolution display making this an excellent 15" laptop option that's both highly portable and powerful. Despite some minor complaints, this latest Lenovo flagship ThinkPad X1 offering is an excellent machine overall and we highly recommend it.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme G2-20QV00CEGE

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 is known as the fastest ThinkPad ever in the ThinkPad series. ThinkPads had been considered as the pickup trucks of the laptop world, as they withstand beating and tinkering while still managing to get the job at hand done. The X1 Extreme Gen 2 has entered the market as a slick business laptop with the power of a lightweight gaming rig. This is due to the fact that this version has incorporated the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. If the earlier Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme was slightly similar to the Ford F150 Raptor due to the silicon equivalent of a twin-turbo V6 that has been incorporated within it, the Extreme Gen 2 has doubled that with a much more extravagant and faster composition. This is definitely understandable with its eight-core processor and a 4K OLED screen paired with 32 GB of RAM. That is obviously something to ponder on for those looking at this laptop.

The X1 Extreme Gen 2 features an excellent build quality with carbon fiber on top coupled with aluminium in the chassis bottom. As far as the display is concerned, Lenovo has maintained the same chassis as with the X1 Extreme, albeit with a little tweak to the overall size. The X1 Extreme Gen 2 has been launched with a slightly thinner side dimension of 0.7 inches as compared to the 0.74 inches of its predecessor. Compared to the Dell XPS 15, which is about as thick with 0.66 inches, this version is way lighter due to its lesser weight. This increases the user comfort and convenience. Apart from that, this Gen 2 has also opted for the similar soft-touch coating on the keyboard deck as the previous version. Again, this increases the user comfort, as it provides a much more pleasant experience for long typing sessions.

This Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 2 runs on an eight-core, 16-thread Intel 9th-gen Core i9-988OH. Now, this is obviously not the fastest chip that has been incorporated in most laptops of the current generation, because there are laptops with much faster performance than this. The Dell XPS 15 and Apple MacBook Pro 16 carry a much higher frequency by running on the much-advanced Core i9-9980HK. However, it should be noted that the X1 Extreme Gen 2 is definitely much faster than any other ThinkPad out there. While this version might not be the best bet out there as far as excellent office laptops go, this is absolutely a considerable choice for anyone looking to merge the need to perform office tasks and the undying hobby of gaming. The choice regarding a laptop is always subjective, but the highlights should not be disregarded at any point, as preferences have always been based on personal choices, whether its for a laptop or a phone.

95% Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 review: OLED, Core i9, and everything you want
Source: Neowin English Archive.org version
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme is a magnificent combination of power and portability though. With a 45W CPU and dedicated graphics, it still weighs in at just 3.76 pounds. Add to that a beautiful OLED display and one of the best keyboards out there, and I'm not sure what else you can ask for.

70% Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 review: A beefy business laptop best left on the charger

Still, the ThinkPad 1 Extreme Gen 2 is lighter and comes with more of Lenovo’s business trimmings, such as iris scanning and the iconic TrackPad keyboard. It also just looks more the part of a business laptop.

80% Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme (Gen 2) review

The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 is one misstep away from being the best 15-inch laptop on the market. That fault, once again, lies with poor battery life as compared to other 4K rivals. If a long runtime is important to you, then you can opt for a 1080p panel, but you'll miss out on the gorgeous 4K HDR display option.
