Lenovo has unsurprisingly introduced a ton of new product offerings this CES, among which happens to be the new ThinkCentre X tower PC. Equipped with high-end components, the ThinkCentre X is positioned to be a formidable competitor in the realm of performance-oriented pre-built towers.
RTX 5090, Core Ultra 9: High-end internals for promising performance
At its core, the Lenovo ThinkCentre X will be powered by up to the Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU. Lenovo has not yet disclosed which exact CPU the tower will feature, but going by past records, it is likely to be the 65-watt locked variant positioned below the K-variants with overclocking potential.
A GeForce RTX 5090 desktop GPU with 32 GB GDDR7 memory will handle the graphics side of things at the highest-end, and an option for dual GeForce RTX 5060 Ti GPUs will also be offered.
Memory requirements, on the other hand, will be handled by four CUDIMMs which can accommodate up to a whopping 256 GB of DDR5-5600 memory. Considering the rapidly increasing prices for memory, maxing out the memory in this pre-built tower is almost certain to be a ridiculously expensive affair.
Finally, storage (Crucial T710 curr. $170 on Amazon) will be taken care of by triple M.2 2280 slots (2x PCIe 4.0 x4, 1x PCIe 5.0), dual SATA 3.0, and dual 3.5-inch drive bays (one of which is optional).
The I/O on offer is as follows:
- Dual USB-A (10 Gbps), Six USB-A (5 Gbps)
- Thunderbolt 4 Type-C
- DisplayPort 1.4a
- Dual Ethernet
- Optional COM port, PS/2 port
- Card reader
More details, pricing, and availability
Clearly, some of the specifications such as the Ethernet speed and processor SKUs are missing as of this writing. However, these details should be clear once the ThinkCentre X Tower is properly unleashed.
We do know that the Tower will also feature an M.2 slot for up to WiFi 7, as well as dual PCIe 4x slots for expansion. Pricing details are under wraps as well, and the same applies to the product's launch date.
