Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid goes on sale in Europe, UK and other markets with elaborate Qualcomm and Intel hardware set-up
Lenovo has quietly released the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid, roughly seven months after the device's debut at CES 2024 in Las Vegas. While there have been suggestions that the device is only available in China, this is not the case. Instead, Lenovo is also its ARM and x86 hybrid in other markets like the Eurozone and the UK.
To recap, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid is effectively two devices in one that can switch between Android 13 and Windows 11 when needed. On the one hand, its 'Hybrid Station' base contains an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor with a 75 Wh battery that supports 100 W charging, along with 32 GB of LPDDR5x-7467 RAM and 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. Additionally, Lenovo has equipped this portion with a pair of 2 W speakers and two Thunderbolt 4 ports, all within a 313.5 x 234.5 x 9.4 mm and 970 g housing.

On the other hand, the 'Hybrid Tab' display element combines a 14-inch OLED display (2,880 x 1,800) with a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, a 38 Wh battery and a USB Type-C port of its own. Moreover, the Hybrid Tab features 12 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. On top of that, it should be possible to switch freely between Android and Windows if the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid is connected to an external monitor.
Currently, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid retails for CNY 15,999 (~$2,249) in China, but €1,979 (~$2,174) and £2,199.98 (~$2,807) in the Eurozone and UK, respectively. In comparison, the device should eventually start in the US for $1,999 before factoring in local sales taxes. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when that will be the case.
