Leak reveals retail box of Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition

It has been almost nine months since Meta announced the Quest 3S headset, and now it is set to announce the first special edition. This special edition Quest 3S will launch as the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition, which was first reported to be in development back in April 2024.

A photo showing the retail box of the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition was posted on X by Zuby_Tech (@Zuby_Tech), and it shows the special edition Meta Quest 3S will come in a black box unlike the standard edition which ships in a white box. The box has both the Meta Quest and Xbox logos at the bottom. There's also a miniature Xbox Wireless Controller at the top right corner.

The headset itself is shown to be black and has an Xbox Green accent that runs around the front. It has been reported that it will have accessories matching the color of the headset. It will also come with an Xbox Wireless Controller in the box.

According to Gamesandwich, the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition will cost $399, and for that price buyers will get a headset with 128GB of storage. While that might sound expensive considering the standard version with 128GB of storage costs $299 (available to buy on Amazon), there are other additions that explain why the Quest 3S Xbox Edition will cost more.

In addition to shipping with an Xbox Wireless Controller in the box, it has been reported that this version of the Quest 3S will include an Elite Strap in the box. This isn't the case with the standard version as owners will have to purchase it separately for $69.99.

The Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition will also come with a three-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate valued at $19.99 per month. However, it is not known if Batman: Arkham Shadow, the free VR game bundled with the standard edition, and a free 3-month trial of Metal Horizon+ will also be included. 

So far, the technical specifications seem to be no different from those of the standard Meta Quest 3S. It also doesn't seem as if the Quest 3S Xbox Edition runs a special version of Meta Horizon OS which Meta made open to third-parties last year. Nevertheless, Gamesandwich says the Meta Quest 3S will be announced on June 24, so more details should be revealed soon.
