Leak reveals Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 with brand-new design and LED ring
The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 ($17 on Amazon) could have a successor very soon, as the latest rumors suggest that the next-generation AirTag alternative will launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE, possibly in September. SamMobile has already spotted an icon in the One UI code that is said to reveal the brand-new design of the Galaxy SmartTag 3.
According to this, the tracker features a shape nearly identical to that of the Samsung Galaxy Watch9, as it resembles a heavily rounded square. This could make the tracker significantly more compact than its predecessor, but the new design has the drawback of no longer featuring an opening for attaching it to a keychain. Similar to the Apple AirTag, it will likely be necessary to purchase a case to use the tracker on a keychain.
The symbol also suggests that the tracker will feature an LED ring that can glow green. This ring could not only provide visual feedback when pairing with a smartphone or using the built-in button, but also help locate the tracker at night. No details about the features are known at this time.
It’s possible that the tracker will receive an upgrade to Bluetooth 6.0, which would enable a longer range and greater precision when locating the device. The Galaxy SmartTag 2 already offers a battery life of 500 days, an IP67-certified and therefore waterproof housing, and an ultra-wideband chip that makes it possible to display the exact direction and distance to the tracker’s location.
