Latest concept PS5 design looks like a thick door wedge but is more realistic than the photoshopped PlayStation 5 shoe box doing the rounds again
Recent rumors about the PS5 have indicated that the next-gen console is not going to be a svelte beast, with it being potentially twice as thick as the PS4 Pro. Considering the high-end components and the requirement for a decent cooling system, it would not be surprising if the PS5 final design is of a large box with a few flashy lights and coloring to jazz it up a little.
The release of the PS5 devkit’s cooling solution patent also adds fuel to the fire that the final PS5 design won’t be entirely dissimilar to that of the V-shaped devkit. The latest PS5 concept that has been appearing on social media recently incorporates a thick design with hints of the devkit, and even though it basically looks like a large door wedge, it could end up being a more accurate depiction than most fan-made concept designs.
Surprisingly, the somewhat infamous (and definitely fake) PS5 “shoe box” has started doing the rounds again with some media outlets and forums, no doubt resurrected by the growing fan desire to know what the PS5 console is going to look like. However, even though the photo seems to depict SIE boss Jim Ryan gazing lovingly at a mysterious box emblazoned with the PlayStation logo, it has already been proven to be a photoshopped image from a Screen Innovations event.
