Xiaomi Mi Band 5: Leak confirms Global NFC, a larger display and custom DnD functionality for June 11-bound fitness tracker
Xiaomi is set to release the Mi Band 5 next week, with renders suggesting that the wearable will broadly resemble its predecessor. However, a new leak published by Tizenhelp suggests that the Mi Band 5 will at least feature a larger display than the Mi Band 4. Specifically, the display has been stretched from a 0.95-inch to a 1.2-inch panel. There is no word on the display type that Xiaomi has gone for, but we would not be surprised if the company continues with an AMOLED panel as it did with the Mi Band 4.
Additionally, even the Global version of the Mi Band 5 will support NFC, a feature lacking from the Mi Band 4. According to Tizenhelp, the Mi Fit app will support Mastercards, so it should be possible to use to the Mi Band 5 as a payment method, too.
The Mi Band 5 will not feature any phone call functionality, though. However, it will include custom DND options that can be freely regulated. The fitness tracker even includes an Avengers-themed clock face, should that be your thing.
The Mi Band 5 will also support up to 11 activity modes, including yoga and rowing. There is no word yet on pricing, but expectations are that the Mi Band 5 will cost around CNY 200 in China and between US$30 to US$40 internationally.
