Mysterious Xiaomi CAS smartphone rumored to be packing a 108 MP main camera, 12x optical zoom, 120x digital zoom, and alleged Snapdragon 775G chipset
Reliable tipster Xiaomishka has been sharing some information about a mysterious upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi that currently has the codename CAS. According to the leaker, the Xiaomi CAS smartphone will have a 108 MP main camera, 12x optical zoom, and 120x digital zoom. The 108 MP sensor will apparently not be the Samsung HMX sensor that features in devices such as the Xiaomi Mi 10. According to the leak, Xiaomi will employ a CMOS Image Sensor with the codename HM2.
The same source claims the Xiaomi CAS will be able to entice customers with its 12x optical zoom and 120x digital zoom, although there is speculation that the latter statistic is merely a Xiaomi marketing ploy to help the smartphone stick out from the ever increasing smartphone crowd. The zoom function will be provided by the periscope camera included in the Xiaomi CAS.
Other expected specifications for the Xiaomi CAS smartphone, which might end up being a member of the Xiaomi Mi CC10 series, include 5G compatibility and support for NFC. There’s even mention of a SoC, which in this case is apparently the rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 775G that hasn’t been officially announced yet. The Xiaomi CAS should be revealed in July under its proper retail name.
