Latest Apple A18 Pro Geekbench scores reveal true performance of the iPhone 16 series
Apple released the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro duos this week. While the phones are yet to reach consumer hands, new leaks have begun to surface showcasing the performance of the devices on Geekbench. A report yesterday outed lackluster benchmark scores for the A18 on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus but a new one has now been spotted, with much-improved performance showcased.
As seen on Geekbench, the A18 Pro appears to earn a single-core score of 3,409 and a multi-core score of 8,492. Supposedly, these numbers are a better representation of the capabilities of Apple's latest chipsets, as opposed to earlier leaks that had the A18 listed with scores of 3,114 and 6,666 on the single-core and multi-core tests respectively.
As a disclaimer, we must point out that it's a tad difficult to conclusively state which of the phones this benchmark listing belongs to. By most indications, however, this listing is for the iPhone 16 Pro Max and its A18 Pro chipset. It's incredibly likely that the vanilla A18 and A18 Pro deliver identical CPU performance, with the biggest difference between the two SoCs being on the GPU end.
The A17 Pro on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max managed average scores of 2915 and 7222 on Geekbench in our evaluations last year, and this listing indicates about an 18% CPU performance advantage for the A18 Pro. Compared to the A16 Bionic on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, the A18 Pro looks to be around 30% more powerful—with both metrics effectively matching Apple's marketing claims for the chipsets.
