If weight, or rather the lack of it, is your premier concern, then no laptop on the market can deliver as much screen and performance for the same number of grams. The only fly in the ointment is the rather high price. Otherwise, LG really has done a very, very good job of building a proper large-screen, lightweight laptop with decent performance, a full-sized keyboard, a great sound system and a generous selection of ports. It’s an achievement too easy to get blasé about.

An equivalent Dell XPS 15 costs $1,849 and offers loads of extra processing power (or $2,149 if you add the OLED screen). That's a far more capable laptop for creatives, but it's not quite designed for the same kind of user. If you replicate the LG's spec on the smaller XPS 13 Plus, it costs $1,499. LG also produces a version of this laptop with a Core i5-1240P processor, 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD for $1,299. That specification can handle modest workloads, but it's even better value if you don't need to run demanding tasks. There are clear conclusions when lining the LG up against all its rivals. With the Gram, you'll get great battery life inside a lighter chassis, but at the expense of processing power and pure screen quality. If you want a featherlight, long-lasting laptop with a big screen and enough power for normal workloads, the LG Gram 16 is very good.

The LG Gram 16 is one of the best combinations of a large screen and a lightweight chassis – it's almost perfect if that's what you're looking for in a Windows laptop, plus it scores highly on all-round features that make it highly practical.

Review of the 2022 LG gram 16 that now uses the Intel 12th Gen Processor and can be spec'd with a RTX 2050. Is the LG gram the best light laptop you can buy?

The LG Gram 16 might not tick every feature box, then, but it does get the job done in lots of key departments – it’s well-equipped, it’s got ample power for everyday workloads, and it combines a decent 16in display with a fantastic keyboard and a remarkably light chassis. You’ll certainly want to look elsewhere if you need a work laptop with more power, an SD card reader or more accurate colours, but LG’s latest Gram is slim, intuitive and long-lasting – it remains one of the best lightweight laptops on the market.

The LG Gram 16 is a super-portable big screen productivity powerhouse. It's not the flashiest or the cheapest, but when it comes to getting work done on the go, few come close to the comfort and portability on offer here.

The LG Gram 16 (2022) is a wonderful laptop, featuring a lovely 16-inch panel as well as an ultra-portable design that’s easy to stow away in a bag. There have been a couple of compromises to achieve this feat, such as a throttled performance and a questionable build quality, but such flaws are easy to overlook when you can carry this large laptop to work without breaking your back.

The LG Gram 16 (2022) is a marvel of engineering, with a lightweight chassis that doesn’t compromise on durability all all-day battery life too – though the long battery life comes at the sacrifice of a less powerful CPU than similarly priced alternatives. Performance aside, the LG Gram 16 feels like a premium bit of kit, with a responsive keyboard, large trackpad, great speakers and a high-quality display – even if the latter is capped at 60Hz. If portability is key, you won’t find anything as lightweight with as large a display as the Gram 16, but there are certainly more powerful laptops on the market at a similar price if performance is your main goal.

The LG Gram 16 has several perks, including an excellent keyboard and large, attractive display, but weight is what sets the laptop apart. It’s uniquely light for a 16-inch laptop which, in turn, makes it uniquely suited for travel whether you’re driving across town for a meeting or flying across the globe. Yet it’s hard to justify spending over $1,500 on a laptop that lacks discrete graphics or a top-shelf processor from AMD or Intel. Acer’s Swift 3 16-inch, though not as light, offers a very similar user experience for over $500 less. The same can be said of HP’s Envy 17. This narrows the LG Gram 16’s appeal to a niche. It’s certainly the most portable 16-inch laptop sold today, which should earn it some fans. However, most people will expect better performance than what the Gram 16 offers.

The LG Gram 16 (2022) has evolved to become a formidable rival to well established rivals like the Apple MacBook Air and the Dell XPS 13. It surpasses both in terms of portability while delivering extra visual real estate, something that will appeal to creatives, number crunchers and other professionals.

Series:
LG introduced its Gram laptop to the world four years ago with the intention to produce notebook as featherweight as possible. With the same noble intention of making it as light as possible, LG has brought forward its 2020 Gram lineup into the market. The extremely light weight of the laptops is due to the fact that the laptops are built with a specially designed, innovative magnesium-alloy frame. Apart from the light weight, this new series has also retained its Gram’s hallmark feature by retaining the svelte form factor. However, this new 2020 series has gone through quite a number of upgrades to cater for the high price tag.
The new Gram series has been introduced with four models which ranges from 14 inches to 17 inches display size along with a 2-in-1 system embedded within it. This opens the possibility for users to choose the best model which caters the individual’s preference and personal interest. As far as the battery capability is concerned, it should be noted that the 14 inches model has retained a similar battery size as the Gram series predecessor which is 72Watt-hour battery. While the 15 inches and 17 inches model cater an 80Watt-hour battery, the 14 inches model is believed to be able to operate at its best with the smaller battery due to its smaller display size. As for the 80 Watt-hour battery, LG claimed that it can provide 17 to 18.5 hours battery life after full charging. However, the real experience with the battery longevity still needs some testing in real-time with real user experience.
Despite the varying battery sizes, all four models of the Gram 2020 laptops have been enhanced with a ‘Mega Cooling’ thermal management system. This is known to be able to improvise the entire user experience and the overall performance of the models. The 17 inches model is incorporated with 16GB of RAM while the other models comes in with 8GB of RAM. The 17 inches model do have some variation due to its bigger display size. Even with the display resolution, the 17 inches sports a 2560 x 1600 display while the other models carry 1920 x 1080 display. This will obviously cater for different viewing quality and user’s viewing pleasure as well. But again, the experience itself is entirely subjective depending on the taste and interest of the individual involved.
In addition to the ones mentioned above, the Gram 2020 lineups also feature Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 3 port. While some might not consider the inclusion of Thunderbolt 3 a must, those who are gamers at heart would definitely rejoice with this addition in the laptop built. The reason being is that Thunderbolt 3 allows the connection to a more powerful external GPU which is worthwhile when it comes to gaming needs for some users. So, the Gram 2020 series can cater for both personal and professional use as well.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Last but not the least, Core i7-1260P has a built-in 96 EU Iris Xe GPU, not unlike certain 11th Gen Tiger Lake-UP3 processors.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
16.00":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
