Jackery touts the new Explorer 5000 Plus as its most reliable portable power station yet due to its ability to power up to 7,200W appliances via its AC ports (while also support the NEMA L14-30R/14-50 and 120/240V-60Hz standards).
Accordingly, it is rated to keep a 520W refrigerator going for up to 10 hours, or a 1,500W coffee maker on for up to 3 hours. The Explorer 5000 Plus can also be recharged from solar panels - although that might take about 6 hours.
Alternatively, it can charge in as little as 3.5 hours via a conventional 1,800W AC input - or power up in just 1.7 hours directly from a residential wall-box via Jackery's Smart Transfer Switch, a NEMA Type 1 panel with a split-phase input and an output of up to 60 amps (A).
It is rated to turn the 5000 Plus into an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) that can take over from the grid in as little as 20 milliseconds (ms). The ~5 kilowatt-hour (kWh) power station can also be scaled up with dual units and battery packs into a whole-home backup system of up to 60kWh.
The Explorer 5000 Plus + Smart Transfer Switch bundle is priced at $4,999, but can be ordered for $3,999 on jackery.com (with the discount code NY1000) or Amazon from now until January 10, 2025.
