Lepow C2S 15.4 portable monitor has a better kickstand than most others
The Lepow C2S offers better colors and a more reliable kickstand than other budget portable monitors we've seen. However, cut corners had to be made elsewhere to keep the price as low as it is.

Following on the recent launch of the 14-inch Lepow Lite H1 portable monitor is the newer and equally affordable 15.4-inch Lepow C2S portable monitor. The model can be found on Amazon for approximately $160 USD on sale to be one of the least expensive portable monitors available. The manufacturer has sent us a sample for our honest impressions.

After spending over a week with the monitor, we've come to notice several pros and cons about it worth mentioning. Important positives include the large kickstand that's much more stable and easier to use than the external monitors that come with foldable faux leather stands like the Vissles-M or C-Force CF011S. Video input options are also plentiful including mini-HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C. Additionally, gamut is relatively wide at approximately 93 percent of sRGB when considering the inexpensive asking price.

The list of negatives, however, is slightly longer. Brightness in particular is very dim to the point where the monitor can be difficult to see in brightly lit environments. Our multimeter shows that the monitor will consume just 3.2 W on the lowest brightness setting and only up to 6.6 W on the highest brightness setting with the included 10 W AC adapter.

Another con worth mentioning is the poorly calibrated colors out of the box despite the wide sRGB coverage. Color temperature is far too cool which negatively impacts grayscale and colors. Once properly calibrated with our X-Rite colorimeter, however, we're able to get average grayscale and color DeltaE values to just 1.0 and 2.65, respectively.

Lastly, the retail box includes no protective sleeve or folio case unlike most other portable monitors. Users will have to be careful to not damage the screen when transporting especially since it is matte and with no glass reinforcement.
