Huawei has, once again, refreshed its EMUI 11 update plan, bringing more devices onto its latest OS. The company began distributing EMUI 11 to the Mate 30 and P40 series in December, before moving onto other flagship devices like the Mate Xs and the MatePad Pro last month. Now, it is the turn of the Mate 20 and P30 series, in what may be the last OS updates for the devices.
Strictly speaking, the two series have only received one Android OS update from Android 9.0 Pie though, as EMUI 11 remains based on Android 10. Hence, we expect Huawei to upgrade the Mate 20 and P30 series to Android 11 eventually, albeit probably with a newer EMUI 11 build than via a third EMUI OS upgrade.
So far, Huawei has begun upgrading the P30 and P30 Pro to EMUI 11 in Africa, Asia Pacific, Canada, Central Asia, the Middle East and Russia. Additionally, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are now eligible for the OS upgrade in Africa and the Middle East. However, please note that Huawei distributes its OS upgrades in batches, so it may be a while before your device receives EMUI 11, even though it is supposedly eligible. Moreover, these update plans only apply to unlocked devices, so you should check with your carrier about when it plans to update your device to EMUI 11.
