The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro can now respond to SMS directly

The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro was already a good smartwatch and one that offered a well-rounded user experience. However, a new app called Mood Messenger enables an important feature that Huawei is yet to add to its flagship smartwatch. Namely, it is now possible to reply to SMS directly from the smartwatch. Previously, the Watch GT 2 Pro could only display incoming SMS, which meant that you still needed to reach for your smartwatch to reply.

Mood Messenger works like sending an SMS on an Apple Watch does, so it is not as flexible as the Wear OS equivalent. Nonetheless, you can still send emojis or pre-defined answers. However, the app's limitations mean that you must use your smartphone to type longer SMSes. The app displays the last five SMS received too, for reference.

Unfortunately, there are a few drawbacks, in our opinion. The worst of all is that you must use Mood Messenger as the default SMS app on your smartphone. For some reason, the accompanying smartwatch app cannot be used with other SMS smartphone apps. You can download the Mood Messenger app via the Huawei App Gallery.
