Huawei Watch FIT 2: New HarmonyOS 2 update brings new features, including support for messages in third-party apps
Huawei has continued its trend of updating recently announced wearables, such as the Watch GT 3 Pro. For some reason, the company decided to roll out three updates in as many days for the Watch GT 3 Pro, but it has only released HarmonyOS 184.108.40.206 for the Watch FIT 2. To recap, the latter has a 1.74-inch AMOLED display, GPS, 97 exercise modes and comes in Active, Classic and Elegant editions.
As the screenshot below shows, HarmonyOS 220.127.116.11 is approximately a 260 MB download. According to the changelog, the Watch FIT 2 can now reply to incoming messages from third-party apps, including WhatsApp. However, you can only use this feature with the Watch FIT 2 paired to an Android device. Similarly, Huawei does not allow the Watch FIT 2 to use its in-house Petal Maps service when paired to an iOS device.
Additionally, Huawei claims to have optimised the appearance of some UIs, as well as improving system stability for certain situations. Available in Europe, Huawei tends to take at least a few days to issue software updates like HarmonyOS 18.104.22.168 to all eligible devices. For reference, you can update the Watch FIT 2 through the Huawei Health app. Please note, you should only start updating your Watch FIT 2 when it has at least 50% battery life remaining.
