Cirrus7 allows users to customize the new Nimbus v5 for a wide range of budgets with a handful of motherboard options, 8 to 64 GB of RAM, up to 20 TB storage and processors ranging between a Celeron G6900 and a Core i9-12900T.

Completely silent mini PCs usually feature low power processors that are not exactly the latest gen, but German mini PC maker Cirrus7 is taking things to the next level and is now offering Intel’s latest Alder Lake-T processors in a compact and fanless system called Nimbus v5. Although there is no space for a discrete GPU given the small form-factor constraints, Cirrus7’s latest Nimbus mini PCs manage to impress with a proprietary fanless cooler tailored for office, media and even rendering use cases.

The new Nimbus v5 combines the traditional heat sink fin design with a modular structure. Surrounding the motherboard and making contact with the CPU is a solid aluminum block with six copper layers by default. The number of layers can be expanded to meet different power specs and use cases. In this respect, Cirrus7 offers a Standard Cooling Edition for office use and lower-specced CPUs, an Extended-Cooling Edition with 5 more copper layers suited for media and HTPC use, and finally an Extreme Cooling Edition with 9 more copper layers suited for rendering workloads. Depending on the cooling solution, the system weight varies between 3.5 kg and 6.5 kg and the profile ranges between 9 and 12.2 cm.

When it comes to hardware specs, Cirrus7 allows for quite a bit of customization. There are 4 mini ITX motherboard options, only one of which supports DDR5 RAM. Unfortunately, there is no Thunderbolt 4 support for external GPUs on any of the motherboards. Processor options range between the Celeron G6900 and the i9-12900T with 35 W TDP. Maximum RAM capacity is 64 GB and, depending on the motherboard option, up to two NVMe SSDs plus up to two SATA storage solutions can be equipped. Optional specs include a Wi-Fi + BT module, a port expander, 2.5 Gbps / 10 Gbps NICs, dust protection and VESA mount.

A base model with Celeron CPU, 8 GB RAM, 250 GB SSD and Standard Cooling Solution costs €679. On the other hand, a full option system with the most expensive motherboard, i9-12900T CPU, 64 GB of RAM. Extreme Cooling Solution, and 20 TB storage is priced at €4,516.
