ASRock expands silent mini PC lineup with iBOX 1200 models powered by Intel Alder Lake-UE CPUs
ASRock is expanding its Intel Alder Lake mini PC portfolio with fanless and slightly lower TDP designs. The new iBOX 1200 models feature Alder Lake-UE processors, which are the step-down variants of the Alder Lake-P CPUs offered on the NUC 1200 BOX systems launched in early March.
Featuring a fanless chassis, the iBOX 1200 systems are also slightly larger than the NUC 1200 BOX models because they come with aluminum fins on the top cover and left-right panels. Even though the Alder Lake-UE processors are limited to 17 W and integrate only 2 big cores, they do come with 4 and even 8 small cores that can easily handle up to 4x 4K video outputs. Accordingly, ASRock is equipping these mini PCs with 1x HDMI 2.0b, 1x DisplayPort 1.4a and two additional USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 connectors supporting DP1.4a mode.
The processor options include i3-1215UE, i5-1245UE, and i7-1260UE SKUs that integrate Intel’s UHD Graphics GPUs and can be coupled with up to 64 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, as well as a storage combo consisting of NVMe PCIe Gen4 X4 and SATA 3.0 solutions. Along with the aforementioned video outputs, the port selection includes 4x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, 2x USB 2.0, 2.5 GbE + 1 GbE jacks, a mic/headphone audio jack and a serial connector. Users can provide their own Wi-Fi module via an existing M.2 Key slot.
No info on pricing or availability for the time being, but it looks like users will be able to change the processors, as the official product page features separate motherboard options for each SKU.
