Huawei Watch 3 receives a new HarmonyOS 2 update with new features and improvements
Huawei released a June update for the Watch 3, carrying the build number HarmonyOS 18.104.22.168. As always, Huawei has brought a few changes and improvements, listed below. Currently, Huawei has released HarmonyOS 22.214.171.124 in China; it has confirmed when the update will make its way to other markets. Typically, Huawei takes a few weeks to issue updates across all eligible countries.
According to the changelog, HarmonyOS 126.96.36.199 adds new galaxy and pet-themed watch faces. Additionally, Huawei has enabled a digital car key function, although there are a few caveats. Specifically, the functionality is incompatible with iOS devices and only works with the AITO M5. Presumably, Huawei will not be bringing the digital car key functionality to global audiences, given its limited availability in China. In comparison, Apple and BMW have already partnered to bring BMW Digital Key and BMW Digital Key Plus to the Apple Watch.
Moreover, Huawei claims to have optimised the Audio Control Center, as well as the voice broadcast experience in some scenarios. Unsurprisingly, Huawei claims to have optimised system performance and stability, albeit without disclosing how. HarmonyOS 188.8.131.52 can be downloaded through the Huawei Health app, where it is over a 300 MB download.
