The Huawei MatePad Pro Max will apparently soon have a smaller sister model.
Huawei’s ultra-thin flagship tablet will soon be joined by a smaller sibling model, which will also be launched in Europe in a few days. Huawei is now showcasing the MatePad Pro 12" with a 4.7-millimeter-thin body and PaperMatte OLED display for the first time in a teaser video.

In the teaser video embedded below, Huawei confirms that a new MatePad Pro 12" will also be unveiled at the launch event on September 2 in Munich, Germany. Compared to the older MatePad Pro 12.2, the new model is significantly thinner at 4.7 millimeters; the screen bezels are even narrower, and the round camera module is slightly larger.

The design and the details already confirmed suggest that the MatePad Pro 12" is a smaller alternative to the already available MatePad Pro Max. The MatePad Pro Max has already earned our coveted Notebookcheck Top Rated Award in our in-depth review, thanks in no small part to its high-quality build, first-class speakers, and very bright OLED display, though we did miss Google services, 6 GHz Wi-Fi, and a faster graphics chip.

According to Huawei’s teaser video, the MatePad Pro 12" features a blue casing and a PaperMatte OLED display that is said to produce virtually no glare, even in bright daylight. Weighing 454 grams, the tablet is slightly lighter than the MatePad Pro Max, which is not surprising given its somewhat more compact body.

The smaller version of the tablet will also be available with a Huawei Glide keyboard case featuring a multitouch trackpad and a stylus. While Huawei has not yet confirmed details about the specs, it’s reasonable to assume that the global version of the MatePad Pro 12" is similar to the model already available in China, and will feature a HiSilicon Kirin 9030 Pro ARM chip, 12 GB of RAM, a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP selfie camera, and six speakers.
