Huawei has announced that its 3:2 aspect-ratio flagship laptop has a new 2023 version, as does the 2.5K display MateBook 16s. Both Windows 11 PCs owe their new suffix to new Raptor Lake processors, if not much else. Then again, there is a screen brightness upgrade for the new 16-inch model.

Huawei has unveiled new additions to its 2023 series of laptops during its European launch event of today (May 10, 2023). However, as with many of their siblings thus far, the MateBook X Pro and 16s mainly upgrade in terms of silicon - clearly, the OEM still thinks they have enough "Greatness in Lightness" otherwise.

To that end, Huawei's well-received 3:2/3K/90Hz/500-nit 14-inch PC remains largely the same, even down to the 3 color options - except it now comes in a Core i7-1360P-powered SKU. Similarly, the 16s will be available with a choice of the i5-13500H, i7-13700H or i9-13900H soon.

Then again, Huawei has at least seen fit to finally upgrade the 16s' peak brightness in this new model - although it is still 400 nits. The updated laptops are slated to go to pre-order in June 2023, starting at €1,799 (~US$1,976) for the 16-inch machine in its single Space Gray finish, or €2,199 (~US$2,415) for the MateBook X Pro 2023.
