Huawei's Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro were released earlier in the week, and while the display disparity and dire lack of a headphone jack on the base model made for major talking points, the cameras on both devices are, perhaps, their greatest strengths. The Mate 10 Pro made it's way to DxOMark over the week, and recorded an overall score of 97—just one behind the Google Pixel 2—which would make it the second best camera smartphone in the world, according to DxOMark metrics.
The Mate 10 Pro features dual rear cameras (12 MP RGB + 20 MP monochrome), with Dual f/1.6 Leica lenses. Pictures taken by the flagship delivered excellent target exposure in bright light conditions, albeit with occasional instabilities. Pictures taken in low light with the dual-tone LED flash also impressed, with good exposure levels and dynamic range.
DxOMark scores are not at all to be considered gospel but there's no doubt that the Huawei Mate 10 Pro stands up there with the very best the smartphone market has to offer.
