The Mi Note 3, Xiaomi's new mid-ranger, made the journey over to DxOMark, with the device recording a score of 90, which places it in the same bracket as devices like the first-gen Google Pixel and the iPhone 7 Plus. Not bad for a two-month-old device that currently goes for as low as US$300.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 has finally made the trip over to DxOMark, with the camera benchmarking platform scoring the Xiaomi upper mid-ranger a solid 90 points. Xiaomi devices aren't particularly known for their great camera performances, something mostly caused by poor software optimization and image processing. This one cuts against the grain, however, as it proves that even moderately priced devices can deliver excellent camera performance. The camera setup on the Mi Note 3 is also the same as the one on Xiaomi's Mi 6 flagship, so this is a sign that Xiaomi is finally trying to deliver devices with able cameras, especially considering the fact that the last-gen Xiaomi flagship, the Mi 5, only recorded a score of 79.

According to the report, the device recorded an impressive photo score of 94, which makes it one of the best photo shooters in the world, even ranking above heavyweights like the iPhone 8. The video score was the real let-down, though, as it could only manage a score of 82—not terrible by any means, and perhaps, closer to what one would expect from a device in that price range—putting it about par with older devices like the Galaxy S6 Edge and the iPhone 7.
