DxOMark: The Oneplus 6's cameras push the iPhone X and Google Pixel 2 to the limits
The OnePlus 6 was released a few months ago. OnePlus devices have gained a reputation for being some of the best value premium devices on the market, mostly due to the company only committing to a maximum of two releases per year so far. While the devices are solid pieces of hardware, in the camera department, they’ve always sat a tier below the most expensive devices on the market. It would appear, however, that OnePlus has gone all out with the OnePlus 6, as the flagship made a stop at DxOMark and recorded scores on par with the traditional big boys.
According to the DxOMark report, the OnePlus 6 effectively offers camera performance on par with devices like the iPhone X, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and Google Pixel 2. It achieved a total score of 96, which is on par with the aforementioned devices.
In the photo department, the OnePlus 6 recorded a score of 100, level with the iPhone X and Google Pixel 2—two devices widely considered to be some of the best camera smartphones in the world at the moment. In the video test, the OnePlus 6 managed to get away with an impressive score of 87, placing it on par with the iPhone 8 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, and the Huawei Mate 10 Pro.
What’s truly impressive about the OnePlus 6’s scores is the price point at which the device is offered. While devices like the Huawei Mate 10 Pro can be had at the same sub-US$600 price point as the OnePlus flagship, there aren’t a lot of devices on the market offering similar value packages.
There's also the fact that the OnePlus 6 is set to receive an update that will make its camera performance even better, but that's a story for another day.
