Updated | OnePlus 6's adaptive brightness feature reported to cause screen flickering
Update:
The issue of screen flickering was noticed during our review of the device as well. We noticed a low PWM frequency of 236 Hz at almost every brightness level, which is likely to cause headaches and eyestrain for sensitive people. Hopefully, OnePlus addresses this at the earliest.
Original Article:
A few users have taken to the OnePlus forums to report screen flickering when adaptive brightness is enabled on the OnePlus 6. Specifically, the issue seems to occur when the brightness is set to maximum, which is mostly when the device is used outdoors.
The issue does seem to affect a small number of devices but it is also possible that other users haven't noticed it yet. Android Police says that the issue is mostly seen when the brightness is set very high and brightly colored content is displayed on the screen. It is not yet known whether the issue is a hardware or software issue as it seems to occur even in the latest Oxygen OS 5.1.9 version. Apparently, the issue is not seen at lower brightness levels.
User have filed bug reports with OnePlus but the company is yet to acknowledge this problem. Hopefully, that won't take too long and a fix is probably in the works.
