OnePlus continues to capitalize on the popularity of its new OnePlus 6 flagship by launching limited edition models of the device. The latest is the Limited Edition OnePlus 6 Red, and it is coming July 10.
OnePlus has taken to its blog to announce its latest limited edition device. The new OnePlus 6 Red is coming on July 10 and the company was at pains to explain the unique development process the company used to create the particular color tone and finish of the new model. Although costing an additional US$5 per limited edition model to produce, the company will retail the limited edition OnePlus 6 Red at the same price as the regular models.
This is what OnePlus had to say about the new Red color:
In order to achieve an “amber-like” depth and clarity, we used a new film coating process that’s never been attempted before in the smartphone industry. In order to maintain a bright coating, the design team included an evaporated layer of brightening film that cost around $5 to make crystal clear. The result is a sizeable glossy, transparent layer over the red coating.
In all other respects, the OnePlus 6 Red offers the same specs as its stablemates. This includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 matched with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It will be available from July 10 in all of OnePlus' global markets for US$579.

I have been writing about consumer technology over the past ten years, previously with the former MacNN and Electronista, and now Notebookcheck since 2017. My first computer was an Apple ][c and this sparked a passion for Apple, but also technology in general. In the past decade, I’ve become increasingly platform agnostic and love to get my hands on and explore as much technology as I can get my hand on. Whether it is Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, Nintendo, Xbox, or PlayStation, each has plenty to offer and has given me great joy exploring them all. I was drawn to writing about tech because I love learning about the latest devices and also sharing whatever insights my experience can bring to the site and its readership.
