Honor launches tablet with 12.1-inch 165Hz display, 10,100mAh battery and Snapdragon processor

Honor has started pre-sales for the MagicPad 4 in China following its earlier reveal. The tablet is available in Starry Gray and Energetic Orange, with 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB configurations. Honor also launched the Pad X9b Max internationally last week.

The Chinese version has a 12.1-inch LCD display with a 3,000 x 1,872 resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches 700 nits of HBM brightness and has a 292 PPI pixel density. It also covers the DCI-P3 color gamut and supports 1.07 billion colors.

Lenovo's globally available Idea Tab Plus has the same 12.1-inch screen size but a lower 90Hz refresh rate. The MagicPad 4 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, while the Idea Tab Plus uses the Dimensity 6400. The Honor tablet has a 10,100mAh battery, compared with 10,200mAh on the Lenovo tablet, and supports up to 66W wired charging with a 45W charger included in the box.

Honor's global version takes a different approach. It comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and a larger 12.3-inch 3K OLED display. Our benchmark data shows the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 performing ahead of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, with a 23% higher average across 14 benchmarks.

The global tablet (currently available on Amazon) is also thinner and lighter, measuring 4.8mm (0.19 inches) and weighing 450g (0.99 lb). The Chinese version measures 6.29mm (0.25 inches) and weighs 537g (1.18 lb). Audio is another difference, with eight speakers on the global model and six on the Chinese version.

The Chinese MagicPad 4 has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. It also uses a new-generation 3D cooling system. Honor claims an 11.7% improvement in graphite cooling performance and a heat dissipation area of more than 37,000mm².

The tablet runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16. It supports PC-style applications, multi-window features and a PC mode.

For wireless connectivity, the tablet supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. Honor also supports cross-brand file transfers, including transfers between the tablet and iPhones or other iOS devices. A keyboard and stylus are supported, although these accessories are sold separately.

Pricing and availability

In China, the 8GB + 256GB version is priced at 3,299 yuan (around $492), while the 12GB + 256GB model costs 3,699 yuan (around $551). The 12.1-inch version is currently limited to China, while the 12.3-inch MagicPad 4 is already available in international markets with a different hardware configuration.
