Reviews for the Honor MagicBook 14, Ryzen 5 4500U
The MateBook 14 is followed by the... MateBook 14. However, AMD's Ryzen 5 4500U takes performance to a whole new level in the current version. Not only is Honor's laptop powerful in everyday use but also extremely enduring. We'll show what else the 14-inch laptop has to offer in our review.

The Honor MagicBook 14 offers an appealing proposition as soon as you take it out of its box: it's sharp and stylish and compact, and is a pleasure to use as well. It's one of the best laptops around at this price, though it does have its weaknesses as well as its strengths.

The Honor MagicBook 14 once again represents phenomenal value, with welcome spec upgrades justifying the modest price hike, and a design that expertly balances aesthetic and practical considerations.

Just from looking at it, the new MagicBook 14 doesn't feel all that new compared to the previous iteration, The design is exactly the same as before, and that has benefits and disadvantages. It feels sturdy and premium, just as it did before, and the design feels classic, yet it has a bit of flair thanks to the blue chamfered edges, which give it a but more personality. On the other hand, keeping the webcam under the keyboard is a terrible decision, and it's just not a good way to use a camera. You're very limited in how you can position yourself in the frame, and it's especially problematic when so many people are working from home.

Earlier this year, I reviewed the Honor MagicBook 14, with a Ryzen 5 3500U processor. The laptop had its advantages, but considering Ryzen 4000 had already been announced at that point, I couldn't help but wish the MagicBook 14 had newer internals. This week, Honor did just that, and announced a refresh of the MagicBook 14 and 15, in addition to the new MagicBook Pro.

AMD Vega 6: Integrated graphics adapter of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 6 CUs (= 384 shaders) and a clock of up to 1,500 MHz.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

In 2014 Huawei created the sub brand Honor and offers certain smartphone series under this name. Occasionally the products are also called Huawei Honor.
The market share of Honor products is manageable, but there are several reviews on Honor smartphones with average ratings (as of 2016).
82.65%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
