Honor's next contribution to the top-end Android smartphone market is thought to ditch the RSR Porsche Design suffix of its predecessor for the considerably less distinctive Ultra moniker. The "Magic8"-series' flagship might be able to make up for that, though.
A recent tip that most likely applies to the supposedly impending 7 RSR successor might imply that the smartphone has something that even the iPhone 17 Pro Max might not: a mid-frame made of a titanium alloy.
The premium feature might be joined by another: a rear panel made of a material that might be ceramic (or mimic it closely, at least).
That might make the Magic8 Ultra one of the highest-end handsets on the market by the end of 2025, while its allegedly ~6.9-inch display could make it one of the biggest.
The panel is now also said to be made of cutting-edge tandem OLED (something else that might be beyond the reach of even the iPhone 17 series) despite its size.
It could also have one of the most interesting (if not necessarily the best) camera humps, rumored as it is to come with the world's first dual 200MP array and the latest in custom Honor AiMAGE tuning.
All those potential advantages also stand to make the next-gen flagship quite expensive though: the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, for example, is still well over $1,000 (even with the Limited Time Deal in effect at the time of writing) on Amazon, partly because of its own titanium mid-frame and single 200MP camera.
