We are fast approaching the official launch of Honor's new foldable. Arriving less than a year after the Magic V3 (curr. $1,550 on Amazon), the Magic V5 is set to take the crown from the Vivo X Fold5 as the world's lightest foldable. Likewise, the new Magic V will be thinner than the Oppo Find N5 too, despite Honor's focus on Samsung and the Galaxy Z Fold7 in recent teasers.
While the Magic V5 is set to debut on July 2, Honor continues to share details about the device on Chinese social media. For instance, the company has now published half a dozen sample shots taken with the Magic V5's telephoto camera. Teased last week, the telephoto camera is expected to surpass equivalents inside the Find N5 and X Fold5 with a 64 MP native output.
Honor's sample photos highlight that the new telephoto camera contains a wider aperture than the Find N5 and X Fold5's, too. For context, those smartphones feature f/2.7 and f/2.6 aperture telephoto cameras. By contrast, the Magic V5 will launch later this week with an f/2.5 telephoto camera, up from the f/3.0 equivalent in the Magic V3. This year's Magic V appears to drop from 3.5x optical to 3x zoom levels, though. By extension, the Magic V5 appears set to offer a 23 mm equivalent focal length for its primary camera.
