Honor has now released the Magic V5 in China where it starts at CNY 8,999 (~$1,255) with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. While the foldable is expected to receive a global release later this year, Honor has not publicly confirmed as much just yet. With that being said, at least one prominent YouTuber claims to have received a Magic V5 running global software.
In the meantime, third parties are already offering the Magic V5 to those prepared to use a smartphone imported from China. For context, although the Magic V5 runs MagicOS 9 like the global version of the Magic V3 (curr. $1,550 on Amazon), Honor tailors its Android skin for China. As a result, certain features may not work as they would do on a global ROM.
Currently, the Magic V5 can only be imported via Average Dad Tech, which is stocking the new foldable in a choice of black, gold, orange and white colour options. On top of that, the new 8.8 mm and 217 g handset can be optioned with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Please note that all but the white version are 9 mm thick and weigh 222 g before factoring in any pre-installed screen protectors. At the time of publication, the Magic V5 can be ordered at the following prices with shipments to start on July 9:
