Honor Magic V2 predicted to launch with new foldable display and 5,000mAh battery
The X Fold2 is currently the world's only foldable smartphone powered by the up-to-date Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. However, Honor is allegedly coming to knock it off this perch with the "Magic V2", an upcoming device slated to outdo its Vivo counterpart in at least 1 important regard.
The putative Magic V successor is said to incorporate "high-density" dual batteries, with a rated capacity of 2840mAh and 2060mAh apiece for a combined typical capacity that might well be rounded up to 5,000mAh. The X Fold2, on the other hand, has a less catchy spec of 4,800mAh.
Then again, the new Vivo top-end model is also the first foldable to charge at up to 120W, whereas the Magic V2 might lag behind at 66W (although it may get some points back with 50W wireless charging). The second-gen flagship is slated to remain "extremely thin and light" despite its new spec, and to have a "custom" 2K LTPO display: also prominent selling points of the X Fold2.
All in all, Vivo's most cutting-edge mobile device might have a problem coming its way, and from a less than expected quarter, later in 2023.
