The consumer technology industry has been witnessing repeated price hikes in recent quarters. This has primarily been due to massive demands in the data center industry, causing equally shocking DRAM and storage supply chain disruptions.
Popular products such as gaming PCs, laptops, smartphones, tablets, and almost anything that utilizes DRAM and NAND chips have been a victim of this. However, other products such as monitors, speakers, keyboards, and accessories have been somewhat immune to these price hikes, but it now appears that may not be for long.
KTC: A major player falls victim to rising costs
While the brand KTC may not be as well known as Gigabyte or Asus in the realm of gaming monitors, the company controlled a whopping 17% of the global market share in the mini LED monitor segment as of 2022. The brand has now revealed that price hikes are about to come for monitors as well.
Spotted by VideoCardz, KTC has revealed that the company will be restructuring pricing for its product segment in the near future. Citing the ongoing price crisis for PC components, the company has revealed that it can no longer absorb these costs internally and will be passing some of them on to their customers.
That said, the fact that KTC has given a heads up to its prospective customers is itself a very classy thing to do. The brand has explicitly stated that this early announcement was in order to allow folks who are in the market for a new monitor to make their purchase prior to the price adjustments.
It is highly likely that other OEMs will also be introducing price adjustments across their product lines, since the ongoing shortages plaguing the PC industry show no sign of easing. Whether or not other brands are graceful enough to give their valued customers a fair warning before such hikes remains to be seen.
