Helldivers 2 has reportedly surpassed 20 million copies sold, generating over $700 million in revenue

Helldivers 2 was released in February 2024 and quickly became one of the most played multiplayer games. It gained attention almost immediately due to its cooperative PvE focus, large-scale battles, and big updates. And now, nearly two years after release, the game has reached a major milestone. 

According to Alinea Analytics, Helldivers 2 has now sold over 20 million copies worldwide, which is a massive achievement. Based on copies sold alone, the game has generated more than $700 million in gross revenue. Alinea estimates that 3.6 million players were active last month across Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Plus, 250,000 players have reportedly spent more than 500 hours in the game.

Steam appears to be the biggest platform for Helldivers 2’s success, where the game has sold 13.1 million copies. On the other hand, 5.6 million copies were sold on PlayStation 5, while 1.6 million copies were sold on Xbox Series X|S. The Xbox version of Helldivers 2 launched later, in August 2025, around a year and a half after the original release. While smaller compared to Steam and PlayStation, the Xbox release still played a big role in pushing the game past the 20 million sales mark. 

Alinea Analytics also claims that China plays a significant role in Helldivers 2’s Steam dominance. It is currently the second-largest market for the game on Steam, accounting for over 10% of the player base. The United States remains the largest market at around 40%.
