The latest Envy redesign incorporates many features found on the Spectre series but for hundreds of dollars less. The new 16:10 form factor is certainly more spacious, but it comes at the cost of a slightly larger chassis.

The HP Envy x360 13 is a compact, midrange two-in-one based on a 13.3-inch touch display with a tall 16:10 aspect ratio that makes the screen feel roomier than a 13.3-inch widescreen display. Still, it's less screen than you get with the 14-inch, 16:10 Lenovo Yoga 7i, which remains our favorite two-in-one for most buyers. At $1,050, the HP Envy x360 model we tested costs a bit less than the Yoga 7i we looked at, but we think the Yoga 7i is worth the extra funds. For starters, the Envy x360 13 isn't any lighter than the 14-inch Yoga 7i, so there's no weight penalty to pay for the added screen real estate. More to the point, the Envy x360 13 we tested supplies only 8GB of RAM. Any laptop or convertible with a price north of $1,000 should serve up 16GB of memory, as the Yoga 7i does. The meager memory allotment holds back the Envy x360 13's performance. Its battery life also failed to impress, and we aren't fans of the silver-on-silver, low-contrast keyboard. Unless you find the Envy x360 13 on sale at a substantial discount, we would steer two-in-one shoppers to the Yoga 7i.

Summing up this review, the HP Envy x360 13 (2022) is an awesome 2-in-1 laptop that brings the right balance between portability and versatility. It’s got a premium, reassuring design, great battery endurance, a nice display, decent performance, and a webcam like no other in its category. All that at a pretty amazing price too; thereby seriously undercutting the most obvious choices in terms of 2-in-1 laptops. Like Dell’s XPS 13 (2-in-1). So if you’re an aspiring digital artist, a school/college student, or just someone searching for a reliable 2-in-1 laptop for their business or office work, I can definitely recommend this to you. HP frequently puts the Envy x360 on sale as well, so if you can nab it at lower prices, even better!

We assume HP.com's $899 sale for the Windows 11 Home equivalent of our test system won't last for more than a few days after this review appears, but at that price it's a steal. A capable, lightweight convertible with a spiffy OLED screen for under $1,000 is a bargain too good to pass by. That said, it's a deal that's bound to be seen again before the end of the year, likely during the Black Friday rush. Even judging this Envy x360 13.3 configuration by its regular price of $1,199, it almost unseats the Yoga 7i 14 Gen 7 as our Editors' Choice among affordable 2-in-1 laptops. With that in mind, the HP Envy x360 is a great alternative if you feel like treating yourself to an OLED instead of an IPS display. Kudos to HP for producing such a deal of a system.

I loved the HP Spectre x360 13.5, which enjoys a more elegant design, faster performance, and an equally good display. But the Envy x360 13 is a lot less expensive, and it is, therefore, a more formidable competitor to the MacBook Air M1 and M2 than its sibling. In fact, I’m not sure that there’s a midrange 13-inch laptop that’s better than the Envy. The Dell XPS 13 is more expensive, and it doesn’t offer the same display quality no matter how much you spend. And at $730, no Apple laptop can touch it.

Review of the 2022 HP ENVY X360 that comes with an OLED display for a pretty fair price! This is the model that comes with an Intel I7-1260P processor. The pen also comes in the box!

The HP Envy 13 x360 is a fairly standard 2-in-1 in most areas. It comes in black and silver, with no other variation to make the aesthetics stand out more. But if you need a thin and lightweight machine with a pretty good battery life to carry around for work or school, this is a solid choice of laptop. The 13-inch screen OLED is the perfect size for portability — and thanks to the thin bezels, you have some great screen real estate. Furthermore, the webcam manages to be 1080p, which is welcome news for those with never-ending conference calls. Pricing is not too bad for the specs, with the most upgraded version costing you $1,200 (around £1,780 / AU$3,186) and the cheapest about $300 less before accounting for any deals. However, the availability outside the US is inconsistent to absent, which is unfortunately a common issue among these less well-known laptop models. The keyboard is solid, with nice wide keys that make typing for long periods of time a breeze and a pretty white backlight for late-night working. Port selection is varied, with almost every slot you expect a 2-in-1 to have, including a USB Type-C port and audio jack. But it’s missing an HDMI port, a trade off for a thin laptop.
