90.5% HP EliteBook 845 G10 review: Business laptop impresses with AMD Ryzen 7 7840U and unbeatable price | Notebookcheck
After reviewing the top version of the new EliteBook 845 G10, we now take a look at an exciting configuration with the low-power display and the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U. Thanks to lower power limits, this configuration remains much quieter when working.
HP EliteBook 845 G10 review – fast office machine with powerful and efficient Zen 4 CPU
Source: Laptop Media English
The HP EliteBook 845 G10 is an office device with a metal build and you can find this machine with powerful Zen 4 CPUs under the hood. In our case, the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U is well-cooled. The chip temperature in short and medium loads is 46°C / 54°C which is a great result. In the long run, the chip can maintain a 25W power limit alongside a 3.2GHz clock. Even then, the fan is near-silent and the keyboard becomes a bit warm but not too hot. The comfort under maximum CPU stress is surprisingly good. The keyboard has a long key travel and a clicky feedback so you can use it for long hours of typing. The touchpad is big, accurate, and has a smooth glass surface. The I/O includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two Type-A connectors, and an HDMI 2.1 – all looks fine here. Since the device has a WWAN slot, you can order it with an optional LTE or 5G support. Speaking of slots, the two SODIMMs fit up to 64GB of fast DDR5-5600 RAM in dual-channel mode.

AMD Radeon 780M: Integrated graphics card in the Ryzen 7040 mobile series APUs based on the RDNA3 architecture with 12 CUs (= 768 shaders) and a clock speed of up to 3 GHz.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

R7 7840U: A powerful laptop processor (APU) of the Phoenix product family. Its eight Zen 4 cores run at 3.3 GHz to 5.1 GHz and are SMT-enabled for a total of 16 processing threads. The great Radeon 780M is responsible for 3D processing and similar duties; the 7840U also features Ryzen AI which is AMD's answer to Intel's GNA and DL Boost.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.

The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

HP: Founded in 1939, the US company is a major server and printer manufacturer and one of the leading IT companies in the world. Until 2015, the company was called Hewlett-Packard Company. After a split, the computer division was renamed HP Inc.

In 2023, HP had an approximate market share of 22% of global PC sales, making it number 2 after Lenovo.

90.5%: There are not very many models that are rated better. Most of the assessments are in percentage ranges below that. The tested product is not considered perfect, but the sources give a clear purchase recommendation.
