HP's EliteBook 845 G10 is a fantastic business laptop with extensive security features, a fast Zen4 processor, great keyboard and very bright 120 Hz display.

HP is offering a fantastic business laptop with a 14-inch display in the EliteBook 845 G10, which is available with both AMD and Intel processors (EliteBook 840). We were able to review the high-end AMD version that uses the current AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 7940HS. This delivers very good performance, especially in multi-core tests, but the performance level is almost too high for a business computer. The 35-watt processor consumes at least 35 watts in the most economical mode, which is why the single fan starts up relatively quickly. A U-series chip such as the Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U with lower power limits is probably a better choice, which we'll test shortly.

The new Radeon 780M handles graphics processing, but is slowed down by the single-channel configuration of our test device. Nevertheless, this doesn't play a major role in everyday office life and anyone who needs the full GPU performance can simply install a second RAM bar since two slots are available. In addition to extensive security features, a 5G/LTE modem is installed, which is why you can stay connected on the go. The keyboard is very good and, unlike Lenovo, the keyboards aren't getting any worse either. Overall, we like the typing feel on the EliteBook 845 better than the current ThinkPads.

In terms of displays, a high-resolution 120 Hz display with 2,560 x 1,600 and P3 coverage is available alongside the standard low-power 1080p panel. The subjective image quality is very good, there is no PWM, and the response times are fast. Moreover, the maximum brightness is more than 500 cd/m², which is why the laptop can be used in bright environments without issue. However, the panel also increases energy consumption, which is why the battery life in combination with the comparatively small 51 Wh battery is between 5-8 hours, depending on the brightness.

We'll be reviewing the EliteBook 845 G10 with the Ryzen 7 7840U and the low-power display soon. All further information on the EliteBook can be found in our detailed review:
