Although the HiTune X5 remains an interesting choice, those who want noise-canceling and an improved fit might want to take a closer look at the HiTune X6 earbuds. A noticeable improvement over its predecessor, the HiTune X5 also comes with a new dynamic driver that uses a diamond-like carbon moving coil, no less than six MEMS mics and ENC (environmental noise canceling), as well as 50 ms ultra-low-latency audio.
While most ANC-enabled headphones usually offer considerably less playtime than their regular counterparts, the HiTune X6 promises up to 26 hours of autonomy, while the HiTune X5 sports a battery life of up to 28 hours. Sadly, it looks like apt-X is not present in the list of features this time due to the feature set available in the RTL8773BFE chip that UGREEN decided to use. The Bluetooth version supported went down from 5.2 (HiTune X5) to 5.1 (HiTune X6). Thankfully, the HiTune X6 keeps the IPX5 rating.
With a regular price of US$69.99 (69,99 EUR for Europe), the HiTune X6 is US$10 (10 EUR) more expensive than its predecessor. The exclusive deal for our readers will run until December 11 and will drop the prices to US$48.99 or 48.99 EUR. Just use the HITUNEX6N3 code on Amazon.com or Amazon.de to benefit from the additional 20 percent discount (there is a 10 percent coupon on the product page for everyone).
Based on the early reviews published so far and the feedback of many users that already shared their opinion on Amazon, the sound quality is noticeably different when comparing the X6 to its predecessor. Some say the HiTune X6 sounds better, others think that the audio quality has decreased. With a bit of luck, I will be able to share my thoughts in a side-by-side review of the HiTune X5 and HiTune X6 before the end of the year.
