Gateway is back: THX and Walmart revive branding for new affordable Ultrabooks and gaming laptop series

Gateway was a popular brand back in its heyday before being squeezed out by bigger names like HP, Lenovo, or Dell. Now, THX and Walmart want to revive the name for a series of affordable laptops, tablets, convertibles, and even gaming laptops that will be exclusive to Walmart stores.

As detailed via the official blog post below, the new devices will "combine style, performance, and value in a wide range of products" that will target students and creators. The new systems range from as low as $199 up to $1199 with Intel, AMD, and Nvidia parts depending on the model.

Four families will be made available called the Ultra Slim, 2-in-1, Creator, and Tablet as follows:

Ultra Slim Family

• 11.6″ Ultra Slim Laptop (MSRP: $199.99) featuring Windows 10, AMD A4, 4GB / 64GB. Available in 4 colors: black, purple, blue, and green. Tuned by THX for audio.

Many of these models are now shipping on Walmart.com and, if they're anything like the Motile series, then they should represent good value for the price especially when considering the inexpensive warranty options available from Walmart. We feel more comfortable purchasing cheap laptops from prominent brick-and-mortar stores like Walmart rather than eBay or some lesser-known reseller where support may be more limited.
