The Gateway NV77H05u is a solid performer when it comes to day-to-day tasks, but outside of that there's not much else this budget laptop offers. If you're willing to part with $20 more, then the Editors' Choice Asus U56E-BBL5 will provide more wireless features (WiDi 2.0 and WiMAX) as well as a better processor.

Gateway;s NV77H05u will appeal greatly to a very specific segment of buyers. That would be those looking to get a low cost laptop that features a larger screen with a higher resolution. At $600, it is very affordable and offers some surprising features including 6GB of memory and a USB 3.0 port. This is great for those that don't need high performance or 3D graphics.
