Reviews for the Gateway GWNC21524-RD

50% Gateway 15.6-Inch Ultra Slim (2022) Review
Source: PC Mag English
Some concessions have to be made when shopping for a budget laptop. You won't be playing Elden Ring very well on anything much less than $800, and you might even have trouble running multiple programs on something in this price range. The Celeron N4020 was never meant for heavy workloads, and the 4GB of RAM is a tough limitation. Pair them with a mostly plastic chassis and a lackluster screen, and the Gateway Ultra Slim feels like a machine that offers what you pay for it, and no more. The once-mighty Gateway may not be a heavy hitter in the PC industry anymore, but you aren't spending this kind of money to get powerful specs, and if you're shopping for someone who will use a computer only minimally (say, for basic browsing and email), you can definitely do worse for $230. If you’re looking for a machine with better performance, though, you should expand your budget slightly more. A limit of $400 to $500 will get you an excellent Chromebook like the Acer Chromebook 514, or perhaps a configuration of our Editors' Choice pick for budget laptops, the Lenovo Ideapad 3 14.

Intel UHD Graphics 600: Integrated low-end graphics adapter with DirectX 12 support, which can be found in some ULV SoCs from the Gemini Lake series. Compared to the HD Graphics 500, the 600 offers improved display outputs. Compared to the faster UHD Graphics 605, the 600 offers less shaders at lower clock speeds.

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

Celeron N4020: A slow dual-core processor (SoC) of the Gemini Lake refresh product family. The Celeron runs at 1.1 GHz to 2.8 GHz and features a DirectX 12 capable UHD Graphics 600 integrated graphics adapter. An undeniably low-end product, this CPU is designed for use in laptops and mini-PCs of the most affordable kind.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

15.60":

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

Gateway: Gateway, Incorporated. is a computer hardware company based in California which develops, manufactures, supports, and markets a wide range of personal computers, computer monitors, servers, and computer accessories. AOL acquired Gateway.net, the online component of Gateway  Inc., in 1999. 2007, Acer completed its acquisition of Gateway for approximately US$710 million. The market share outside of the US market is rather low.

In 2014 to 2016, Gateway did no longer belong to the Top 10 laptop manufacturers/distributors. Newer devices from Gateway are hardly reviewed by specialist media any longer (as of 2016).

50%: This rating is bad and very rare. There are only a few models that are rated so poorly. If the source is reputable, then a purchase is probably not advisable.
