The Garmin Beta Version 16.14 update is now available for the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 smartwatches. It arrives a few weeks after the first update in the 16.xx testing cycle, beta version 16.11, which brought a new glance linked to the watches’ battery and the Ripple watch face, alongside other features and improvements.
Beta Version 16.14 focuses on improvements and bug fixes for these newer Forerunner smartwatches. The release notes state that your favourite sports teams are now marked with a star icon, and there is a new setting which allows users to view seconds on some always-on display watch faces. For divers, the appearance of the Training Readiness section of the Morning Report has been improved when there is no recent dive score. Plus, golfers can now save custom targets on golf courses.
Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 users should note that the haptic feedback which occurred when you opened the volume menu has been removed. Garmin has not explained why it has made this decision. The company has tackled a couple of bugs which could cause these smartwatches to reset, linked to swim activities, or switching music providers. It has also resolved some problems linked to Garmin Coach, an issue with the countdown timer in a strength activity, and a bug which prevented the volume from being increased after it was muted.
You can view the full change log in the screenshot below. These beta version 16.14 updates are now available to manually download for users for the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 smartwatches (curr. from $649.99 at Amazon).
