Garmin has announced a new 3D maps feature for the Connect mobile app. However, this tool is only available for subscribers to Garmin Connect+, a premium plan which was launched earlier in 2025. It joins a host of other features behind the paywall, including enhanced coaching and AI insights.

Garmin has announced a new feature for its Garmin Connect+ plan. This subscription started in March 2025, when several previously unreleased tools were placed behind a paywall. As expected, the company is bringing more functionality to subscribers, this time linked to maps.

The new Garmin Connect 3D Maps tool is designed to provide users with details of their route. These three-dimensional topographic maps can be used when viewing courses and trails, as well as your journey for a logged activity. It could help users to gain a better understanding of the type of terrain on their route, which may impact their performance.

The Garmin Connect+ subscription is priced at $6.99 per month, or $69.99 annually. It already includes tools like AI insights on your health and activity data, a dedicated performance dashboard to view training data, and a live activity summary showing metrics like your real-time heart rate and pace. Subscribers can also access exclusive coaching with Garmin Run Coach, Garmin Cycling Coach or Garmin Fitness Coach, on top of the standard guidance.

The new 3D maps feature was announced as part of a broader November 2025 update for users of the brand’s devices, including the Edge 850 Cycling Computer (curr. $599.99 at Amazon).
