Garmin has released the Public Beta Version 13.15 software update for Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955 smartwatches. New to the watches is the addition of running power data to an activity without you needing to purchase a separate running dynamics accessory. The Grade Adjusted Pace data field has also been added, showing your average pace accounting for the steepness of your route. Plus, an incident detection feature will now push an automated notification to your emergency contacts unless you cancel the message.
The Forerunner 955 receives more tools than the 255, with Auto Rest/Pause now available for the Ultra Run activity and new Backcountry Snowboarding and Disc Golf activities. Both Forerunner watches have got fixes for issues such as a dashed line appearing on training pages or calibration data failing to save. Other improvements to features like pairing and settings syncing between the gadget and Garmin Connect Mobile have also been delivered in the update. You can view the full changelog for the Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 255 on the Garmin Forum.
Garmin notes that the new Beta will be automatically pushed to eligible smartwatches via GCM, which checks for the software daily. The company suggests that the download and installation may take several hours. Update Beta Version 13.15 was released as part of the Garmin Beta Program, which lets users test new features before a general release; you can sign up for the Beta Program via Garmin Connect.
