Garmin Instinct Crossover: New hybrid smartwatch launches in three variants from US$499.99
Garmin has introduced the Instinct Crossover, a hybrid smartwatch series that comes in three variants. Specifically, Garmin has produced the Instinct Crossover, Instinct Crossover Solar and the Instinct Crossover Solar Tactical. However, the company's website refers to the first two models as the 'Standard Edition'. As is the case with hybrid smartwatches, the Instinct Crossover series features physical hands, plus a small display for displaying certain information that measures 0.9-inches across and operates at 176 x 176 pixels.
For reference, all models offer 10 ATM water resistance and can access the Connect IQ Store like regular Garmin smartwatches. Likewise, the Instinct Crossover series supports Garmin Pay and Garmin's typical suite of health monitoring and exercise apps. Additionally, Garmin claims that Instinct Crossover Solar models deliver 'Infinite Battery Life', although the fine print reveals this only applies when using the watch in battery save mode. Conversely, Solar models should last up to 70 days in smartwatch mode, with Garmin rating the regular Instinct Crossover for 28 days of use in smartwatch mode.
The Instinct Crossover starts at US$499.99 in Black and Blue Granite 'Standard Edition' colourways. Alternatively, Garmin sells the Instinct Crossover Solar in Standard and Tactical Editions for US$549.99 and US$599.99, respectively. At launch, the Instinct Crossover Solar Standard Edition is available in Graphite and Tidal Blue colours. By contrast, Garmin only offers the Instinct Crossover Solar Tactical Edition in Black. According to Garmin's website, all SKUs should start shipping within 4-7 working days of ordering.
