The new Techno-Stabi TS-L2040 is positioned as a lighter alternative to the TS-X 1440, as the new model weighs 852 grams and is around a third lighter. The binoculars offer powerful features nonetheless, starting with 20x magnification that makes objects that are 60 meters away look as though they were only three meters away. Objects must be least five meters away for the focus to work properly.
The Techno-Stabi TS-L2040 can be used in temperatures from -10 °C to +50 °C, and the IPX7 certification guarantees that the binoculars are waterproof. The distance between the two eyepieces can be adjusted from 5.6 to 7 centimetres, while the integrated diopter correction allows the optics to be adjusted by up to +/- 2.0 diopters.
Compared to the cheaper TS-12x28WP, images via the TS-L2040 are said to be 39% brighter. The highlight of the hardware is the electronic image stabilization, which is designed to compensate for slight camera shake of up to 3 degrees. As a result, the image should appear much more stable and move more smoothly, making it much easier to use. The disadvantage is that the image stabilization requires power, for which the binoculars use two AAA batteries that are said to provide around 30 hours of runtime.
