CES 2024 | Swarovski: First smart binoculars unveiled, can identify animal species thanks to AI and take pictures and videos - also as live transmission
Artificial intelligence is likely to be one of the most important topics in the next few years and will affect all areas of life. Thanks to the AX Visio from Swarovski Optik, the topic has now also reached the field of binoculars and animal observation in particular. The AX Visio is equipped with an NPU, which is said to be able to quickly and reliably identify a wide variety of animal species. Not only ornithologists should get their money's worth, as other animals such as squirrels can also be identified. Being able to differentiate between bird species may prove very useful for beginners.
The binoculars offer 10x magnification and a 32 millimeter objective lens, with a field of view of 112 meters / 1000 meters. The AX Visio not only has built-in image recognition; the camera sensor can also be used to record videos and photos. The resolution here is specified as 4208 x 3120 pixels, i.e. 13 MP. However, videos can only be recorded in Full HD resolution.
Thanks to a smartphone app, images and photos can also be easily uploaded to the phone and managed there. With the Live View function, observations can even be shared live. The battery life of the AX Visio is specified as up to 15 hours in normal operation, 2 hours in intensive use. A compass function is also integrated, which can also display the tilt angle. Lastly, the binoculars weigh just under 1100 grams.
The AX Visio is now available at a price of $4799.
