A tentative early leak suggests that Fujifilm will soon launch another video-centric camera similar to the X-S20. A rumoured spec sheet claims a 26.1 MP sensor and 7-axis IBIS, however video specifications are a step above the Fujifilm X-S20. With no word on naming, hints in the spec sheet and release date point to a premium replacement for the affordable Fujifilm X-A7 camera.

Fujifilm has been on a bit of a roll lately, with the recent X-S20, X-T50, and X100VI launches generally going down rather swimmingly, and the Japanese cameramaker shows no signs of stopping, if a recent rumour from The New Camera is to be believed. The new Fuji rumour purports that Fujifilm will release a new camera with eerily similar specifications to the X-S20, suggesting that perhaps a different form factor or control scheme is in order.

According to the rumoured specs list, the as-yet-unnamed Fujifilm camera will feature basically identical specifications to the Fujifilm X-S20 (curr. $1,399.95 with a 15–45 mm kit lens at Best Buy). This means the same 26.1 MP APS-C X-Trans BSI CMOS 4 sensor paired with the X-Processor 5 and 7-stop in-body image stabilisation.

As a reminder, that sensor-processor combination allows the Fujifilm X-S20 to shoot open-gate 6.2K video at up to 30 fps, while the rumoured Fujifilm camera claims the same open-gate resolution at up to 60 fps. This video capability bump suggests a more pro-tier X-S20 with potentially a higher price, although the spec sheet hints at a different camera altogether.

Curiously, although the rumoured specifications make mention of a 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreeen, there is nothing to suggest the rumoured Fuji vlog camera has a viewfinder of any kind. This absent viewfinder points to a refresh of the X-A line, and a recent cryptic leak by FujiRumors teased a "successor to a camera line that most of us (maybe even all of us) thought dead," which lines up with the X-A series. That said, the X-A cameras never used Fujifilm's iconic X-Trans sensors, which would make this a departure from tradition if it is a new X-A camera and likely a much more expensive camera than the previous X-A cameras have been.

The New Camera tentatively speculates that this new Fujifilm camera may be something along the lines of an X-S50 — a flagship X-S20 — although a replacement for the X-S20 seems unlikely so soon after its launch. What seems more probable, given Fujifilm's history for playing with form factor and control schemes, is something like an X-Pro4 or X-E5 — or even the aforementioned X-A camera. Although both of those rangefinder-style interchangeable-lens cameras have been rumoured and leaked, they are both seemingly launching sometime in early 2025 rather than 2024.

The Fujifilm X-A7, the last of the affordable line-up to launch, was released in late 2019, so it is overdue for a replacement, although Fujifilm has been known to play fast and loose with release cadence, having left the X-Pro3 without an update for nearly six years.
