Details about Weibu's GP10 handheld console powered by an unspecified Intel Lunar Lake processor were leaked on the official Computex site. Looks like we could see an early preview of the upcoming Core Ultra 200V CPUs at Computex this June, although these chips will likely launch this fall.

The first handheld consoles featuring Intel’s Core Ultra processors with integrated Arc GPU did not really impress as they could not beat existing AMD Phoenix implementations. In the meantime, AMD’s Hawk Point and even Strix Point APUs are already scheduled to equip select handheld consoles, and Intel will try to offer an alternative with the upcoming Lunar Lake Core Ultra 200V-series, which is expected to launch this fall. However, we might not have to wait that long to see these in action, as PCWorld recently spotted a Weibu GP10 console on the Computex site (already removed), suggesting this could be showcased early next month in Taipei.

Weibu specializes in mini-ITX motherboards, but an early 2024 LinkedIn post from the company’s sales consultant Wilson Chung hinted at an upcoming handheld console. While the sneak peak image in the LinkedIn post does not seem to resemble the console spotted on the Computex site, it does seem to confirm that Weibu is planning to introduce a handheld console lineup later this year.

Intel’s Lunar Lake platform is said to improve power efficiency even more, yet Weibu’s GP10 console appears to be substantially bigger than most Steam Deck clones, resembling the OneNetbook OneXPlayer X1 with a large 10.95-inch screen and seemingly detachable controllers on each side. Unlike the OneXPlayer X1 however, the screen is limited to 1920 x 1200 instead of 2.5K. It does feature 120 Hz refresh rate at least.

The brief spec sheet also mentions up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X onboard RAM, which could mean that Weibu might offer an additional soldered 32 GB RAM module separate from the 16 - 32 GB LPDDR5X chips that are integrated in the Lunar Lake CPU package. Other specs include an M.2 NVMe slot for up to a 2 TB SSD, a USB4 connector, audio jack and a TF card reader. Wireless connectivity is ensured via a Wi-Fi 6E card.

Hopefully, the integration of the Battlemage Xe2-LPG iGPU in the upcoming Lunar Lape processor could finally offer a solid alternative to AMD’s RDNA 3(.5) iGPUs. The Arc iGPUs in the Core Ultra 100-series seemed to be highly reliant on RAM speeds, but this problem should be fixed with the LPDDR5X-8533 modules directly integrated in the Lunar Lake CPU package.
