AMD’s cheapest RDNA 3 card, the RX 7600, has an MSRP of US$270. Folks that want something more affordable currently have no option but to shop for older GPUs. However, this might change with the RX 7500 specs of which have leaked out.

A year ago, we reported that the RX 7500 XT could pack 20 Compute Units (CU), a narrow 96-bit wide bus, and 6 GB of RAM. The information came to us courtesy of RedGamingTech who later leaked that the RX 7500 could have two models with 28 CUs and 8/6 GB of memory for US$229 and US$199. Now, leaker All_The_Watts has confirmed the specifications shared by RedGamingTech while also divulging the TDP and predicting the price.

According to All_The_Watts, the RX 7500 indeed features 28 CUs, 8 GB of 16 Gbps memory, and a TBP limit of 135 W. For reference, the RX 7600 has 4 more CUs and rocks 8 GB of 18 Gbps GDDR6 memory over a 128-bit wide bus. When we compare the purported RX 7500 specs to its predecessor, the RX 6500 XT, we see some significant improvements.

For starters, the RX 7500 allegedly has 28 RDNA 3 CUs vs 16 RDNA 2 CUs for the RX 6500 XT. Similarly, the RX 7500’s rumored 96-bit bus and 8 GB of VRAM are also drastically better than the embarrassing 64-bit bus and 4 GB VRAM of the RX 6500 XT.

Moving on to the price, All_The_Watts predicts the RX 7500 MSRP to be US$219. This is lower than previous leak of up to US$229 pricing. However, the US$219 isn’t particularly exciting in the current GPU landscape.

For instance, the RX 6600 can be found for as low as US$200 brand new on Newegg at the time of writing. It is important to remember that the RX 7600 outperforms the RX 6650 XT by only single-digit margins. So, the RX 7500, which should be demonstrably slower than the RX 7600, may not be an enticing enough deal vs the RX 6600 at the current prices.

All in all, the RX 7500 looks like a starkly entry-level product just like it’s predecessor. If the leaked specs and MSRP ends up being true, the GPU could be a tough sell vs older RDNA 2 cards.
