Elegoo is a well-known manufacturer of 3D printers and has a new resin printer on offer in the form of the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K. The Saturn 4 Ultra is already available, but the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K, as the name suggests, has an increased resolution from 11,520 x 5,120 to 15,120 x 6,230. This resolution refers to the 10-inch LCD display at the bottom, which does not show images, but emits the light required for the selective curing of the photosensitive resin. A higher resolution ensures better display quality. The accuracy of the Z-axis remains the same at 0.02 millimeters and the XY resolution at 14 x 19 μm. The printing speed is given as up to 150 millimeters per hour, which refers to the height of the print.
The 16K variant of the printer also has the same build volume of 211.68 x 118.37 x 220 millimeters, but features a new AI camera with a built-in chamber light, allowing users to continually monitor the printing process. The tank heating system now comes with smart temperature control, keeping the resin at a constant 30 °C and thereby ensuring better fluidity and layer adhesion. Leveling takes place automatically, which means that users do not have to manually adjust the printing plate. Not a demanding task per se, but it is very time consuming.
The Saturn 4 Ultra 16K boasts numerous other features, such as a resin shortage alarm, a residue detection alarm, a leveling failure alarm, resin level detection, advanced overheating protection, power loss recovery, WiFi cluster printing, a USB port, an air filter system and more.
The machine can be now pre-ordered for $499.99, nearly 20% off the RRP of $623.99. Delivery is scheduled for the end of February.
